Der-Danieliantz of Arminco Network Solutions on behalf of the Armenian Internet Users Group. It is supported under the cooperative agreement between the Armenian Internet Users Group and the Arminco Limited. The AM Network Information Center is located at the AIC Network Operations in Yerevan, Armenia. Equipment and network connection provided by the Arminco Limited as free service to the public. All information concerning AM domain names, Internet addresses, name servers, contact persons, and network providers in Armenia are collected into the AMNIC databases to be retrieved via whois or World Wide Web. AMNIC cooperates with InterNIC and other registries to keep the AMNIC databases consistent and up to date. AMNIC also serves as a National Internet Registry for domain name registrations under the AM TLD. AMNIC keeps primary nameserver for the AM TLD, ns.amnic.net. Its primary goal is to enhance integration of Armenia into the international information infrastructure by fostering the open interchange of information between Armenia and other parts of the world. AMNIC, being a part of AmIUG, is responsible for servicing new domains, maintaining the AM TLD zone file and consulting new users. www.amnic.net is now the official WWW server of the AMNIC and AmIUG. Pogossian, UNDP project managers Tigran Nazarian and C. Karapetian, AmIUG representatives I. Mkrtoumian and G. Sagian, the UNDP Resident Representative and UN Resident Coordinator Armenia Jean-Mary Lorge. The problem of financial support of the UNDP Internet connection and training center including national Internet exchange (Yerevan Internet Exchange, YIX) which will integrate existing ISPs networks into a single national infrastructure. The Open Society Institute representatives promised their support. * Eurasia foundation grant to AmIUG The Eurasia foundation presented a grant to AmIUG for the development of Eurasia foundation grant receivers home pages and putting them on the AmIUG web server www.amnic.net. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ NETWORK NEWS * AIC AIC is planning to set a 128 Kbps connection to US. * INFOCOM The Director of Infocom D. Rostomian and Director of Marketing Department B. Navasardian had resigned. Artak Gabrielian is now performing the duties of Director. * YERPHI * AUA The AUA had purchased and tested its Arlan radiobridge connection with YerPhI. There were reliability problems because of a small indoor antenna. The AUA is now waiting for its outdoor omni antenna to be received from US to set the permanent connection.
